Cookie notice

Updated 20 August 2026

This page describes, in plain terms, everything that mapleslice.com stores in your browser and everything the services that deliver it may store. It is short, because the list is short.

The short version

MapleSlice sets no cookies of its own — none for advertising, none for analytics, none for personalisation. It writes one entry into local storage when you close the cookie strip. Cloudflare, which delivers the pages, may set technical cookies needed for security, and runs a statistics beacon that works without cookies.

Cookies and local storage: the difference

A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back with every later request to that site. Local storage is a separate space in the browser where a site can note something for itself; unlike a cookie, it is not attached to requests and never travels to a server on its own. Both are cleared by the same command in your browser: clear site data.

What is actually stored

userConsent — local storage, set by this site

Written when you press OK on the cookie strip, so that the strip does not reappear on every page. It holds a single word, it is never transmitted, and it stays until you clear site data. Decline to press anything and nothing is written at all.

Cloudflare security cookies — set by Cloudflare

Cloudflare protects the site from automated abuse and may set strictly necessary cookies such as __cf_bm and, in some circumstances, cf_clearance. They exist to tell a browser from a bot, they carry no advertising or profiling purpose, and their lifetimes are short — __cf_bm expires after about thirty minutes.

Cloudflare Web Analytics — no cookie

A small measurement beacon reports the address of the page, the referring page, page-load timings, the type of device and browser, and the country derived from your IP address. It sets nothing on your device and does not follow you between sites. We read the results as totals: which reviews are read, and how quickly the pages arrive.

What this site does not use

  • Advertising or retargeting cookies — there is no advertising on MapleSlice.
  • Third-party analytics suites, session recording or heat mapping.
  • Social network plugins, share widgets and their trackers.
  • Push notification services and device identifiers.
  • Fonts, scripts and stylesheets loaded from third-party networks: everything the pages need is served from this domain.

Managing what is stored

Every browser can clear site data, block storage for a single site, or refuse cookies outright, usually from the padlock in the address bar or from the privacy section of its settings. Blocking storage for mapleslice.com is harmless: the pages work exactly the same, and the only visible effect is that the cookie strip appears again on each visit because there is nowhere to note that you closed it. Cloudflare's security cookies cannot be switched off from our side; blocking them at the browser level may mean extra security checks before a page loads.
